Street Lethal is the debut album by Racer X. It introduced the original band lineup featuring drummer Harry Gschoesser.
Background
Street Lethal was recorded in Prairie Sun Studio, in Cotati, California. Guitarist Paul Gilbert used two borrowed guitars to record the album - a Squier Strat and a custom made Wayne Charvel guitar. Street Lethal would be the only Racer X album to feature drummer Harry Gschoesser, because his visa ran out in 1986. Gschoesser would leave Racer X after the release of Street Lethal and return to his native Austria.[3] Street Lethal was released on January 1, 1986,[4] through Shrapnel Records.[5]

Notes
- ^ "Y.R.O." stands for "Yngwie Rip-Off".[6] Producer Mike Varney referred to the track as "Y.R.O." while it was untitled.[7] The song has obvious similarities to Yngwie Malmsteen's "Black Star", with an almost identical bassline.[8][9][10] "Y.R.O." is also included in the 2009 video game Brütal Legend.[11]
